Hi, I’m Shae!
I am a recently graduated Interactive Design Journalism major at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill currently working as a web designer and developer in Boston, MA. Half of my site is focused on my work as a designer and the other half, as a photographer. I am interested in pursuing a career in interactive/graphic design, front-end design and/or UI/UX design. See why below! View my linkedin and github to see more of my experience. For the spring 2015 semester I was studying at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. See where I’ve travelled on my blog.

Please feel free to explore my site, Instagram and resume!

More about me:
I came to Carolina planning to pursue degrees in photojournalism and marine science, but half way through my first year I realized I wasn’t as interested in the study of marine science as I once thought and I simultaneously came across our multimedia (interactive) program. I saw a huge benefit to learning about web development and design. I figured it was the best way to be versatile since I was unsure what I wanted to do in the future.

I enrolled in an intro to interactive multimedia course and graphic design course and really enjoyed both. I was still interested in photography, but believed that the technical skills I would learn in the multimedia department were more important and I’m so glad that I did.

I have since taken courses primarily focusing on interactive design and programming, but I have also continued taking photography and graphic design classes. I am particularly interested in front-end design/development, graphic design and UI/UX design. I believe my knowledge and understanding of HTML, CSS and Javascript help me immensely as a web designer. All of my developed designs are responsive and I begin my wire frames and comps with mobile-first design in mind.

Aside from my education, I have interests in travel, music, interior design and fashion.
